Okay, we’re not entirely sure why Jaguar chose New York to unveil their British-built and British-developed Type 01 … but hey, who are we to judge? After the monolithic Type 00 concept and the monumental uproar it unleashed, the new Type 01 finally channels Jaguar's controversial new identity into something tangible, edgy, and actually acquirable. And yes, it’s exceptionally luxurious—and blisteringly fast, too.
What do we mean? An 850-volt electrical architecture and a 118 kWh usable battery pack deliver a range of up to 400 miles, while simultaneously pushing out a staggering 1,030 hp (1,030 PS) and 1,365 Nm of torque. The result? 0 to 62 mph (0–100 km/h) in a breathtaking 3.2 seconds. And yep, we’re talking about a five-meter-long machine here.
PB Balaji, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, sees it as a genuine gamechanger: “Combining British heritage, bold creativity, advanced technology, and groundbreaking engineering, it reflects our ambition to create objects of desire that will help us invite a new generation of clients into Jaguar’s loyal and passionate customer base.”
