(Sports-)Cars and Coffee
An espresso à la ducktail didn’t exist. Until now. Porsche and La Marzocco have just unveiled a joint collection inspired by the legendary 911 Carrera RS 2.7.
Fuel for Thought
Coffee and cars? They’ve always been a package deal. Just look back at the 1950s Hertella coffee maker, which allowed drivers to brew a fresh cup right on the dashboard of their VW Beetle. Or take Martin Lawrence’s character in the 1995 cult action hit Bad Boys. Detective Marcus Burnett wasn't exactly thrilled with the 964-generation Porsche 911 Turbo—simply because Zuffenhausen had forgotten to install a cup holder.
That wouldn't happen today. Modern Elfers accommodate your morning brew without a spill, all while preserving the timeless silhouette and raw athleticism that made the icon famous in the first place. And now, there’s the second iteration of the already legendary Porsche x La Marzocco espresso machine collaboration.
Following the Martini-inspired first round, these two masters of mechanical precision are now channeling the pure spirit of the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Originally introduced as a homologation special limited to just 500 units for racing, radical lightweight construction, distinctive design, and razor-sharp performance turned it into one of the most coveted road-legal sports cars in history. Its most defining signature? The iconic rear spoiler, affectionately dubbed the "ducktail."
This new collection translates the signature aesthetic—and uncompromising purism—of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 straight into the coffee realm. The La Marzocco Linea Micra comes dressed in three historic Porsche colorways: "Grand Prix White / Green," "Blood Orange / Black," and "Grand Prix White / Blue." It’s a sharp celebration of functional design and clean lines that Porsche purists and home baristas will equally obsess over. But while great coffee takes patience, you’ll need to act fast: the "Grand Prix White / Green" and "Blood Orange / Black" editions are strictly limited to 911 units each, while the "Grand Prix White / Blue" variant is an exclusive German release capped at just 150 pieces.
